Share
What You'll Need
- 1 package Trader Joe's Tomato & Burrata Ravioli or flavor you want
- 1 jar tomato basil pasta sauce
- 1 lb pasture raised Italian sausage links
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ¼ cup water
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
For Topping
- Fresh basil leaves, roughly torn or sliced
- Parmesan cheese, shaved or thinly sliced
- Extra crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Let's Cook
1. Cook the Italian Sausage
Heat a large cast iron skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage links and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on the outside and cooked through. Remove the sausage from the pan and allow it to rest for a few minutes. Slice into bite-sized rounds.
2. Build the Sauce
Place the skillet or Dutch oven back over medium heat. Add the tomato basil pasta sauce. Stir in: garlic powder, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes, if using, and black pepper. Add the water and stir to combine. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
3. Add the Ravioli
Carefully add the tomato and burrata ravioli directly into the sauce. Gently stir to coat. Cover the skillet or Dutch oven and cook according to the ravioli package directions, usually about 5–8 minutes, until the ravioli are tender and heated through. Stir gently once or twice while cooking to prevent sticking.
4. Add the Sausage
Once the ravioli are cooked, gently fold the sliced Italian sausage into the sauce. Allow everything to simmer together for another 2–3 minutes so the sausage warms through and the flavors come together. Taste and adjust with salt, pepper, or extra red pepper flakes as needed.
5. Finish & Serve
Remove from the heat. Top with: shaved or thinly sliced Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil. Allow the Parmesan to soften slightly over the hot pasta. Serve straight from the skillet or Dutch oven while hot. Enjoy! Happy Camping!
